Abstract

As government of India set up a parliamentary panel that recommended Legislative assembly
elections which take place six months before or after the Lok Saba general elections should be
combined. This study investigates the impact of the introduction of simultaneous elections on the
Indian political landscape. The present study analyzes the effects of the introduction of
simultaneous elections on diversity, security, and democracy. It addresses concerns about costeffectiveness, stable government, and a decrease in political interruptions while arguing not in
favor of simultaneous elections in India. It examines the process of replacing the frequent system
of elections, under the grab of reforming the election system, with that of simultaneous elections.
This paper passes through different stages while referring to multiple aspects associated with the
frequent as well as simultaneous systems of elections. This study illuminates three main elements,
diversity, elections, and federalism, and explores the complex interplay between them. And argues
that this complex relationship is based on the efficient interpretation of the Constitution, the trust
of people, and the unity of a diverse landscape. This study seeks to closely analyze the security
concerns associated with the introduction of a simultaneous election system in India. It also
investigates the interplay among efficiency, federalism, diversity, and election system. This study
after careful analysis of various sources like books, reports, research papers, newspaper articles,
and online debates, argues that the introduction of a simultaneous election system could pose a
challenge to diversity, security, and democracy.
